Donate – Money

All donations are tax-deductible.  Currently, 98 percent of your donation goes directly to the animals rescued by HAL and/or that are in our foster care program.  About 2 percent is spent on administrative costs.  There are various way to donate money to HAL:

  • Online via credit card, just go to Community Foundation of the Lowcountry(CFL) and then scroll down to complete the rest of the form. CFL is our 501c3 partner. You can also use this method to donate “in memory of” or “in honor of” a loved one or pet. Note: There is now a credit card fee subtracted from your donation or asking if you want to increase your donation to cover the fee.  Our partners, the Community fund of the Lowcountry (CFL), have absorbed this banking fee in the past.  They can no longer do that. Most crowdfunding web sites charge a transaction fee of some type to cover platform fees, banking fees etc. Note: We conveniently included a “Donate” button at the top of every page.
  • Phone/in-person via credit card.  Call Community Foundation of the Lowcountry 843-681-9100 and tell them the money is for HAL.
  • Check.  Make it out to CFL and in the memo line write — donation to HAL.  Send it to:

Mailing Address:
Humane Association of the Lowcountry(HAL)
c/o Community Foundation of the Lowcountry
PO Box 23019
Hilton Head Island, SC
29925

  • Gifts of stock.  Contact the Community Foundation of the Lowcountry at 843-681-9100 for specific details.
  • Cash.  Bring it to Community Foundation of the Lowcountry (4 Northridge Drive, Suite A, Hilton Head, SC 29925).  Be sure to tell them the money is for HAL.

Most of the donations go directly to our veterinarians for things like:

  • exams
  • spay/neuter
  • vaccinations
  • testing (e.g., FeLV, FVRCPC, heart worms)
  • basic treatment for worms, fleas, ear mites, heart worms etc
  • micro-chips

In addition, if they get sick while in foster care, they may need tests, medications and surgery to treat their health problems.  All of HAL’s veterinary needs are done by our partner veterinarians: Port Royal Veterinary Hospital  or Riverwalk Animal Hospital.  We have been lucky because our foster families have generously tended to pay for food, litter, bed, toys etc.

We appreciate your support. It means so much to the cats/kittens and dogs/puppies right in our own community.
